Magento Commerce becomes Adobe Commerce
What has changed for users and what is happening with Magento Open Source?
Following the acquisition of Magento in 2018, Adobe decided this year in April to take the next step in combining the two brands. The background to this is the growing market in online retail and the stronger integration of Magento into Adobe. The aim is to differentiate Magento from other e-commerce solutions, which is to be established independently of third-party providers through in-house development and other Adobe products. Adobe Commerce will therefore be fully integrated into the comprehensive Adobe Experience Cloud.
The new branding only relates to the Magento Commerce and Adobe Commerce Cloud products. The free open source version will remain as a separate brand and will continue to be used by us in suitable scenarios. When it acquired Magento in 2018, Adobe assured us that it would continue to support the free open source version and the Magento Association extensively in its further development and has now reaffirmed this.
Nothing will change for users of Magento Open Source either. Basically, there is nothing else to consider with the licensed software either - apart from the new branding. However, you can expect Adobe Commerce to integrate other Adobe products and expand its e-commerce into an all-in-one solution.
As an official Adobe Bronze Solutions Partner, we will continue to provide you with expertise and support for both solutions from a single source: Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source.
