Smart Datalytics January 2019: Artificial intelligence and e-commerce
The last day of January brought the first Smart Datalytics of 2019. Around 80 interested participants gathered at the Otto Campus at collabor8 on January 31 for another exciting topic under the motto "from data design to data discovery to predictive analytics". In cooperation with bonprix, the topic was once again "Artificial Intelligence", but this time with a special focus on its potential for e-commerce.
The keynote speech was given by Saleh Mohammad-Pour from bonprix. His title "The multi-layered facets of artificial intelligence in e-commerce - technology, trust, transparency and security!" promised a lot and the audience was not disappointed. After a brief overview of the challenges of AI-supported e-commerce, the main focus was on a non-technological view of the topic. How much can people trust decisions made by machines? Is the decision-making process comprehensible to us? How secure are algorithms against manipulation and to what extent do ethics and morals play a role? It quickly became clear that the issues surrounding the use of AI in e-commerce go far beyond the actual questions of feasibility, economic sense and benefits. This led to extensive discussions afterwards. The unanimous opinion at the end of the evening was that there is much more to say on this topic. It was certainly not the last Smart Datalytics, which was all about artificial intelligence.
We would like to thank all participants and contributors and look forward to the next event in March.
