Change of name: atlantis media becomes atlantis dx - we are what we do!

New challenges, new name. Since the beginning of May 2021, we have been operating under the name atlantis dx. But why the name change? And why now? And what's not changing? Read for yourself!

atlantis media becomes atlantis dx. Our new name reflects how we see ourselves: we live and breathe digitalization. Everything we do is always about the best possible digital experience. Why is that the case? A look at our past shows why our new name is forward-looking.

Let's go back to 1994, when we founded atlantis Handelssysteme EDV, Hard- und Software GmbH on a beautiful May day. Even though this name may have been a bit unwieldy, it described what we did in our early years. We dealt with IT in general and with POS systems in particular. Incidentally, 1994 was the year in which a certain Jeff Bezos launched a sales platform on the Internet. A year later, the starting signal was given for an online flea market for consumers. Well, the rest is history.

Three pillars formed a stable foundation

We knew our way around checkout systems and began designing and implementing Internet presences and websites in 1998. Our Web Solutions division was born. Now we had both - experience with POS systems on the one hand and expertise in web development on the other. So it made sense to combine the two - in our second pillar, e-commerce. After all, more and more companies wanted their own online store. We provided them with this - as well as an attractive website.

But the name. It no longer suited our modern approach. A new name was needed: atlantis media. 13 years ago, media stood for new, digital media. media was hip, modern and innovative. Our company name embodied our self-image and field of activity equally well. What then really took off was the topic of data. No wonder, the amount of data kept growing, while at the same time the storage capacities and processing speeds of the systems increased enormously. Handling data was a key challenge, particularly in our complex e-commerce projects: How does the data get into the respective system? How should customer and product data be maintained? Which pages are particularly highly frequented? Where and to what extent is there potential for optimization? How can data be visualized clearly? Our third business unit, Data & Analytics, was created in response to these and many other requirements.

And our name? If we ask ourselves today whether it still fits us, we have to honestly admit to ourselves: No, it no longer expresses what we do and who we are. "Something to do with media" has become a catchphrase that young people use to describe an undefined career aspiration.

The digital experience takes center stage

So, once again, it was time for a new name that would suit us just as well as its two predecessors. Everything to do with the "digital experience" - that's what we do and what defines us. That's what we're really good at. That's what we've been doing since our beginnings 27 years ago. In short: our USP. atlantis dx - that's our new name. Nowadays, it's always about the best possible digital experience (dx). We develop individual solutions that ensure an ideal digital experience. In all projects, we always pursue the goal of providing the user of a digital solution with an optimal experience - whether in an online store, on a website or in data analysis. Customer experience thus forms the bracket that holds our three areas together - and at the same time joins them as a fourth pillar. We are now taking this development into account - with our change of name and our website relaunch.

Together into the future

Three aspects are particularly important to us: further development, continuity and reliability. We have always maintained long-term, partnership-based relationships with our customers as equals. With our team, we have a broad range of expertise and manage digitalization projects from a single source. The fact that we think outside the box and focus on developing future-proof solutions benefits both our customers and ourselves: In this way, we always keep our finger on the pulse of technological developments.

Even though many things are changing, you can always rely on your atlantis dx team. Your usual contacts are always there for you. We are 100 percent digitalization. We are atlantis dx.
